Quantity Surveying Techniques: Measurement and Estimation
The aim of this unit is that learners will demonstrate knowledge of the basic principles of measurement in quantity surveying, including understanding units of measurement and the standard practices used in measuring construction work. Learners will effectively use various measurement techniques and tools to accurately quantify the materials and labour required for construction projects, ensuring that their measurements comply with industry standards.
Learners will apply different estimation methods to produce reliable cost estimates for construction projects, considering relevant factors such as material prices, labour costs, and other overhead expenses. Learners will critically evaluate the effectiveness of various measurement and estimation techniques, assessing their accuracy and reliability, and discussing how these techniques influence project budgeting and overall financial management in construction.
This unit will focus on understanding measurement principles, applying techniques for quantification, utilising estimation methods, and evaluating the reliability of these practices in quantity surveying.
